Adani Green Posts Record Capacity Addition, Accelerates Clean Energy Expansion
New Delhi, April 01: Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) added over 5 GW of renewable energy capacity in FY 2025–26, taking its total operational portfolio to 19.3 GW, marking one of the largest annual greenfield expansions globally outside China.
The capacity addition includes 3.4 GW of solar, 0.7 GW of wind, and 1 GW of hybrid wind-solar projects. The newly commissioned assets are expected to offset nearly 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, with AGEL’s total portfolio contributing to an estimated 36 million tonnes of annual carbon offset.
According to Sagar Adani, the milestone represents a significant step in advancing India’s low-carbon transition and strengthening energy security, while supporting the company’s target of achieving 50 GW capacity by 2030.
A substantial portion of the new capacity has been deployed at AGEL’s mega renewable energy project in Khavda, Gujarat, which is being developed as the world’s largest renewable energy park. Spread across 538 sq km, the project has already reached 9.4 GW of installed capacity, with a planned scale-up to 30 GW by 2029.
The company has also operationalised 1,376 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) at the site, enhancing grid stability and renewable integration. Advanced technologies, including bifacial solar modules, solar tracking systems, high-capacity wind turbines, and waterless robotic cleaning, are being deployed to improve efficiency and sustainability.
The development reinforces AGEL’s leadership in renewable energy and underscores India’s growing prominence in the global clean energy landscape.
