REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Power, has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹15,000 crore with the Government of Tripura to strengthen the state’s power infrastructure and renewable energy ecosystem. The agreements were signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, reaffirming REC’s commitment to supporting sustainable infrastructure development in the Northeast.

The first MoU, valued at ₹5,000 crore, was signed with the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) through the Department of Power. Under this partnership, REC Limited will provide financial assistance for renewable energy projects, enabling the state to accelerate solar, green energy, and other clean power initiatives while unlocking Tripura’s renewable energy potential.

REC also entered into a second MoU with the Department of Power, Government of Tripura, through the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) for projects worth ₹10,000 crore. The collaboration aims to finance the expansion and modernisation of the state’s power infrastructure, ensuring reliable and sustainable electricity for consumers while supporting future economic growth.

The agreements were signed by Shri Subhendu Roy, Chief Program Manager, REC Regional Office, Guwahati, along with senior officials from TREDA and TSECL, in the presence of Shri Ratan Lal Nath, Hon’ble Minister of Power, Government of Tripura. The partnerships reflect a shared commitment to building a stronger, cleaner, and more resilient energy sector.

By supporting both renewable energy development and power infrastructure expansion, REC Limited will help improve electricity access, encourage private investment, and strengthen Tripura’s transition towards a low-carbon and energy-secure future. The projects are also expected to contribute to regional development and improve the quality of life for citizens.

The ₹15,000 crore investment commitment further reinforces REC Limited’s leadership in financing India’s power sector while supporting the Government’s vision of expanding clean energy, strengthening transmission infrastructure, and promoting inclusive growth across the country.

Conclusion

REC Limited’s strategic partnerships with the Government of Tripura will accelerate renewable energy development and power infrastructure expansion, supporting sustainable growth, reliable electricity, and India’s clean energy transition.
