New Delhi, May 27 The National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti organised a national workshop on dam safety and digital monitoring platforms in New Delhi on May 27, bringing together officials and technical experts from across the country.
The one-day hybrid workshop, titled “Empowering Dam Safety: Interactive Familiarisation with RRSSD & RBSD Digital Platforms of NDSA”, saw participation from State Dam Safety Organisations, dam-owning agencies, Central Water Commission, NDMA and public sector entities involved in dam management.
During the inaugural session, Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources V.L. Kantha Rao released the National Register of Specified Dams (NRSD) 2026 and launched the DHARMA (Dam Health and Rehabilitation & Monitoring Application) mobile app.
The workshop focused on strengthening dam safety, flood risk management and disaster preparedness through digital platforms developed by NDSA.
Officials demonstrated the Rashtriya Bandh Suraksha Darpan (RBSD), a national digital dashboard designed to support flood risk assessment, dam-break analysis and informed decision-making.
The Rapid Risk Screening of Specified Dams (RRSSD) platform was also showcased as a standardised risk assessment tool to identify vulnerable dams, prioritise inspections and generate consistent risk profiles.
A live demonstration of the DHARMA mobile application and its integration with NDMA’s CAP-SACHET alert system highlighted the use of technology for real-time alerts, monitoring and emergency response.
The workshop underscored the growing role of technology-driven solutions in dam safety and disaster resilience and reaffirmed NDSA’s commitment to implementing the Dam Safety Act, 2021 through digital transformation and capacity building.
