New Delhi, May 14 India’s leading dairy cooperative, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), on Wednesday announced a nationwide increase of ₹2 per litre in the prices of Amul fresh milk, effective May 14, 2026.
According to the federation, the price revision applies across major variants and pack sizes, translating to an increase of approximately 2.5–3.5 per cent in maximum retail prices (MRP). The cooperative noted that the hike remains below the prevailing average food inflation.
GCMMF attributed the price adjustment to a sustained rise in input costs, including cattle feed, fuel, and packaging materials. The federation highlighted that these cost pressures have significantly impacted its network of over 3.6 million milk producers.
In line with its cooperative structure, GCMMF stated that nearly 80 per cent of consumer proceeds are transferred to dairy farmers. The latest price increase is expected to support higher procurement prices, with member unions having already raised payments to producers by ₹30 per kilogram of fat over the past year—an increase of approximately 3.7 per cent.
The federation also underlined that no price revision had been implemented since May 2025, indicating a lagged pass-through of rising operational costs.
Under the revised pricing in Gujarat markets, including Ahmedabad, Saurashtra, and Kutch, key changes include:
- Amul Taaza (500 ml): ₹29 (up from ₹28)
- Amul Taaza (1 litre): ₹57 (up from ₹55)
- Amul Cow Milk (500 ml): ₹30 (up from ₹29)
- Amul Shakti (500 ml): ₹32 (up from ₹31)
- Amul Gold (500 ml): ₹35 (up from ₹34)
- Amul Tea Special (1 litre): ₹66 (up from ₹63)
- Buffalo milk (500 ml): ₹39 (up from ₹37)
The previous price hike was implemented in May 2025, when GCMMF raised milk prices by ₹2 per litre, citing increased production and operational costs.
