New Delhi, May 9: Rwanda has invited India to participate in the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA 2026), scheduled to take place in Kigali from May 18 to 21.
Invitation Conveyed to Jitendra Singh
The invitation was personally delivered by Rwanda High Commissioner to India Jacqueline Mukangira to Union Minister Jitendra Singh. According to the Department of Atomic Energy, the minister has agreed to participate virtually and address a designated session at the summit, citing his inability to attend in person.
Global Participation at NEISA 2026
The summit will be held at the Kigali Convention Centre in collaboration with major global organisations, including the International Atomic Energy Agency, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Nuclear Energy Agency, and World Nuclear Association.
Focus on Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
During the meeting, both sides explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in science and technology, innovation, atomic energy, and digital capacity building. They also discussed partnerships in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and space technology.
India’s Growing Role in Emerging Technologies
Jitendra Singh highlighted India’s expanding global engagement in frontier sectors, driven by the vision of Narendra Modi for technology-led inclusive development.
The Rwandan delegation expressed keen interest in collaborating with Indian institutions and leveraging India’s expertise in innovation, research, and capacity building.
Commitment to Global South Partnerships
Reaffirming India’s stance, the minister emphasised the country’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with nations of the Global South, particularly in areas of science, innovation, and sustainable development.
