Indian Airlines to Resume Doha Flights from May 1 Amid West Asia Tensions

New Delhi, April 30: India’s leading carriers are gearing up to restore full-scale operations at Hamad International Airport from May 1, signalling a gradual normalisation of air connectivity in West Asia following weeks of geopolitical disruption.

The resumption comes two months after a joint offensive by the United States and Israel targeting Iranian leadership and nuclear infrastructure, which escalated into a broader regional conflict and severely impacted commercial aviation.

Key Indian airlines—including Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo—are expected to lead the phased return, reconnecting Doha with major Indian metros and regional hubs.

According to the Embassy of India in Doha, the move is part of a coordinated effort involving global aviation regulators to stabilise flight operations in the region. However, authorities cautioned that schedules remain subject to change amid a still-fragile security environment.

Passengers have been advised to stay in close contact with airlines for real-time updates on departures, terminal operations, and booking confirmations.

Despite its role as a diplomatic intermediary during the crisis, Qatar experienced significant aviation disruptions. Its airspace remained largely closed for nearly two months, with the airport limited to emergency and evacuation flights since early March.

A fragile ceasefire, brokered in Islamabad in mid-April and recently extended by Donald Trump, has created a temporary window of stability. This has enabled commercial insurers to cautiously approve the resumption of international flight operations, paving the way for a phased recovery in regional air traffic.
