Jammu, April 28: Indian Railways has strengthened logistics connectivity by facilitating the entry of Amazon into the Kashmir Valley through dedicated freight services operated by Northern Railway.
The initiative introduces daily VP-based cargo movement between Adarsh Nagar in the National Capital Region and Budgam in Kashmir, creating a reliable two-way supply chain. The corridor supports forward movement of goods from NCR to the Valley and return loading of regional products back to the capital, enhancing market integration.
The service enables transportation in under 30 hours, setting a new benchmark for time-bound freight movement across challenging terrain. This marks a significant improvement in logistics efficiency and reliability for the region.
By linking the Valley with major consumption centres, the development is expected to boost e-commerce penetration, improve access to goods, and create new opportunities for local producers to reach wider markets.
The move also underscores Indian Railways’ focus on modernising freight operations and building integrated supply chains that support economic growth, particularly in geographically remote regions.
