Ashwini Vaishnaw Reviews Summer Special Trains to Manage Rush

Northeast Rail Boost: 10 Lumding Stations Earn ‘Eat Right Station’ Status

New Delhi, April 28: Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed preparedness for the summer travel season, with Indian Railways outlining a large-scale deployment of special trains to manage rising passenger demand.

Between April 15 and July 15, 2026, the Railways plans to operate 18,262 summer special train trips across high-demand routes. So far, 11,878 trips have already been notified, with additional services being progressively announced to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion.

The initiative focuses on easing passenger movement at major stations including New Delhi, Mumbai (LTT, CSMT, Pune), Surat (including Udhna), Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru. Authorities are leveraging improved rake availability, optimized scheduling, and real-time monitoring to ensure efficient operations.

Zonal-level interventions are also playing a key role. At Udhna station, Western Railway has implemented real-time crowd management, enhanced on-ground support, and streamlined boarding processes. In the Udhna–Thave Tapti Ganga Express, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel ensured orderly boarding and seating, helping maintain safety and passenger convenience.

The Railways has placed special emphasis on facilitating smooth travel for passengers heading to their hometowns during the peak summer period. Enhanced station arrangements and coordinated operations aim to deliver a safe, efficient, and hassle-free travel experience.

The large-scale deployment underscores Indian Railways’ proactive approach to managing seasonal demand surges through targeted planning and operational efficiency.
