Washington, April 10: India and the United States have reinforced their Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership through a series of high-level engagements led by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during his ongoing visit to Washington.
Misri held a key meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation across trade, defence, critical minerals, and multilateral platforms such as the Quad. The interaction signals continued momentum in India-US strategic engagement, with a potential visit by Rubio to India expected next month.
In a significant security-focused dialogue, Misri also met Kash Patel, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to enhance cooperation on counter-terrorism, organised crime, and narcotics control, reflecting expanding collaboration in internal security.
Further discussions with Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker focused on aligning bilateral priorities and assessing regional and global developments, particularly in West Asia amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Economic and technology cooperation remained a parallel priority. In talks with Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg, both sides agreed to advance collaboration under initiatives such as Pax Silica, with emphasis on artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and broader technology partnerships.
Misri also engaged with policy think tanks in Washington, discussing the future trajectory of India-US ties, including opportunities and risks in a rapidly evolving global order, particularly in areas such as energy, food, and economic security.
The engagements underscore a broad-based expansion of India-US ties, spanning defence, security, economic, and technological domains, amid a complex global geopolitical landscape.
