Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited suspends 10 LPG distributors over malpractices
New Delhi, April 3, 2026: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has suspended 10 LPG distributors for alleged malpractices, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy against irregularities in its distribution network.
The state-run oil marketing company said it has initiated strict disciplinary action against dealers found violating norms, emphasising accountability and transparency in service delivery.
The move comes amid increased government efforts to curb misinformation and ensure smooth LPG supply. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas recently urged states and Union Territories to intensify communication to counter rumours that have led to panic buying and hoarding in some regions.
The ministry flagged a rise in fake news related to LPG availability and pricing across social media platforms, which has put additional pressure on distribution systems. It has advised states to conduct daily press briefings and ensure timely dissemination of accurate information to reassure consumers.
Authorities have also been directed to take strict action against hoarding and black marketing of LPG.
HPCL reiterated that safeguarding consumer interests, maintaining transparency, and ensuring reliable supply remain its top priorities.
