Premium Fuel Prices Up – But Petrol and Diesel Stay the Same

Indian Oil Assures No Petrol or Diesel Shortage Across India

IOC Raises Premium Fuel Prices as Global Oil Volatility Persists

New Delhi, April 01: Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has increased prices of its premium fuel offerings in the national capital, while keeping regular petrol and diesel rates unchanged despite rising global crude oil prices.

XP100 petrol, a high-octane fuel used in luxury and performance vehicles, has been raised to ₹160 per litre from ₹149. Similarly, Xtra Green diesel is now priced at ₹92.99 per litre, up from ₹91.49 earlier.

In contrast, retail prices of standard petrol and diesel remain stable, with petrol at ₹94.72 per litre and diesel at ₹87.62 per litre in Delhi. Prices in other metros, including Mumbai, have also remained unchanged.

The selective price revision comes amid heightened volatility in global energy markets due to the West Asia conflict, which has driven crude oil prices higher.

While oil marketing companies have absorbed the impact in retail fuel pricing, other petroleum products have seen sharp increases. Commercial LPG prices have been raised, and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) rates have more than doubled, reflecting the surge in global benchmarks.

The pricing strategy indicates a calibrated approach by OMCs to balance consumer impact and cost pressures, even as uncertainty persists in global oil markets, particularly around critical supply routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.
