New Delhi, March 01: : India’s aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Saturday said 444 flights are expected to be cancelled on March 1 following widespread airspace closures over Iran and parts of the Middle East.
The disruption comes after 410 domestic carrier flights were cancelled on February 28 due to restricted airspace in the region, triggered by ongoing military operations involving the US and Israel.
In a post on X, the DGCA said major airports across the country remain on operational alert to manage potential diversions and ensure seamless passenger facilitation. Senior officials have been deployed on the ground to oversee passenger assistance, airline coordination and terminal crowd management.
The Ministry’s Passenger Assistance Control Room (PACR) is closely tracking grievances. On February 28, the AirSewa platform recorded 216 complaints, of which 105 were resolved the same day.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed airlines operating international services to continuously monitor airspace advisories and Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and undertake rerouting or diversions in line with global safety protocols.
Additionally, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and private airport operators have been instructed to enhance coordination with airlines on ground handling, parking bays, passenger amenities, crew logistics and immigration support.
