Union Cabinet approves ₹6,969.67 crore tunnel project connecting Dwarka Expressway with Nelson Mandela Marg in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 14: Cabinet approves the upgradation of the Ghoti–Trimbak–Jawhar–Manor–Palghar section of NH-160A in Maharashtra for Rs 3,320.38 crore.

The project spans 154.635 km and is projected to create approximately 19.98 lakh person-days of direct and 24.86 lakh person-days of indirect employment, enhancing economic activity in the region.

This upgrade will provide an alternative route for freight traffic from industrial areas near Nashik, reducing congestion in Nashik city. The traffic flow will be redirected to utilize the Samrudhi Expressway and NH-848, with expectations to exceed 10,000 PCUs by 2028, necessitating 4-laning.

The project aligns with PM GatiShakti principles, connecting key economic and logistic nodes which will improve India’s Logistic Performance Index.
