NITI Aayog Maps Pathways to Viksit Bharat and Net Zero in New Reports

New Delhi, Feb 10: NITI Aayog has released three reports related to Viksit Bharat and Net Zero, part of an eleven-study series aimed at achieving India’s development goals by 2047 while reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2070.

The studies involve an integrated assessment across key sectors like power, transport, industry, and agriculture, underpinned by ten inter-ministerial working groups. The first report provides an overview of development scenarios, emphasizing electrification and low-carbon technologies.

The second report discusses the macroeconomic implications, including the impact on GDP, jobs, and public finance. The third report addresses financing needs, highlighting the necessity of $22.7 trillion investment by 2070 and a financing gap of $6.5 trillion.

Key officials emphasize the importance of a comprehensive strategy to balance energy demands with climate goals.
