New Delhi, Feb 10: The Ministry of Railways has approved two major infrastructure projects under Northern Railway, with a total cost of ₹421.41 Crore, aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency on High Density and Highly Used Networks.
These projects will install Electronic Interlocking systems at 34 stations across Delhi and Ambala Divisions, specifically where the “Kavach” automatic train protection system is implemented.
The Delhi Division will have Electronic Interlocking at 21 stations, costing ₹292.24 Cr, while the Ambala Division will have it at 13 stations for ₹129.17 Cr.
This modernization represents a significant shift from mechanical to computer-based systems, greatly reducing human error and enabling safer, more efficient train operations on busy routes.
