New Delhi, Feb 07: During his two-day official visit to Kuala Lumpur, commencing February 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to strengthen India-Malaysia relations, as invited by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
This visit intends to enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by focusing on key sectors including trade, emerging technologies, energy, and education, while encouraging collaboration that reflects changing regional and global priorities.
Excitement among the Indian diaspora in Malaysia is palpable, particularly with the upcoming cultural event ‘Selamat Datang Modi Ji,’ showcasing the strong cultural ties between the two nations.
This gathering will be marked by performances from Malaysian artists and speeches by both Prime Ministers, highlighting the deepening bilateral relationship.
Ramesh Kodammal, Chairman of ASEAN India Economic Council, noted the enthusiasm generated by this visit, emphasizing its potential to elevate Malaysia-India relations, particularly as bilateral trade reached approximately USD 20 billion in 2023-24.
The visit will also include delegation-level talks and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding.
