New Delhi, Feb 05: Work on the redevelopment of 172 railway stations has been completed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, as stated by Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The scheme aims to enhance accessibility, integrate stations with city areas, and improve amenities such as waiting halls and toilets. Key features include wider foot over bridges, escalators, lifts, improved parking, multimodal integration, and sustainable solutions.
Additionally, 8,626 railway bridges have been repaired or rebuilt from 2022 to December 2025, with a robust inspection system in place. Inspections happen biannually, with 20% of major bridges inspected annually and frequent checks based on their condition. Measures have also been taken to prevent water-logging in subways and Road Under Bridges (RUBs).
