Govt Plans New Customs Integrated Platform Rollout in Two Years

New Delhi, Feb 1: The Indian government plans to launch a Customs Integrated System (CIS) within two years to streamline all customs operations, as announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the Union Budget 2026-27.

This new system will enhance cargo clearance processes through a digital window, with specific protocols for food, drugs, and wildlife products operational by April 2026.

The initiative includes immediate customs clearance for compliant goods upon online registration and the removal of the Rs 10 lakh value cap on courier exports to support small businesses. Additional measures will aid Indian fishermen’s exports, and customs duties will be waived for several essential drugs.
