New Delhi, Jan 27: Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is significantly transforming its energy sector, emphasizing bio-energy, ethanol blending, and circular economy solutions, as highlighted by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri at India Energy Week (IEW) 2026.
Puri noted significant advances in bio-fuels and waste-to-energy initiatives, with ethanol blending in petrol rising from 1.53% to 20%, enhancing energy security and boosting rural economies.
The event showcases innovations such as the Bio-Energy, Ethanol, and CBG Zone, alongside 133 operational Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants producing 926 tonnes per day. Puri emphasized that these initiatives support India’s climate goals through a circular energy model, treating waste as a resource. IEW 2026, held from January 27-30 in Goa, unites experts to shape India’s energy future.
