New Delhi, Jan 01: As of December 9, 2025, the government has sanctioned 3.86 crore houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), with 2.92 crore completed.
The program, aiming for ‘Housing for All’ by 2029, initially targeted 2.95 crore houses by March 2024. An extension approved on August 9, 2024, will allow for the construction of an additional 2 crore rural houses from FY 2024-25 to FY 2028-29.
Additionally, the PM-JANMAN scheme aims to support Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, while the DAY-NRLM initiative focuses on creating financially self-sufficient women through the Lakhpati Didi program, which has already benefitted over 2 crore women.
The Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana has also improved rural connectivity, completing over 16,000 km of roads and 900 bridges.
