Bhopal, Dec 24: Bhopal has officially inaugurated its Metro operations, becoming the 26th city in India to feature a Metro network, which now spans a total of 1,090 km across the country.
The Bhopal Metro, aimed at enhancing urban travel, features two main corridors totaling 30.8 km: the Orange Line (16.74 km) and the Blue Line (14.16 km). The Orange Line’s Priority Corridor, approximately 7 km with eight elevated stations, was inaugurated to improve traffic flow and reduce pollution on busy routes.
Key features of the Bhopal Metro include modern amenities such as high-speed lifts, escalators at all stations, accessible facilities for individuals with disabilities, AI-based CCTV surveillance for safety, audio-visual passenger information systems, and air-conditioned coaches with mobile charging points.
The project, developed under Prime Ministerial leadership, symbolizes a commitment to smart, sustainable, and efficient urban transport, aiming to improve commuting experiences and contribute to the city’s environmental goals.
