New Delhi, Nov 21: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held consultations with trade unions and labor organizations in New Delhi on November 20, part of preparations for the Union Budget 2026-27, set for presentation on February 1.
This annual process allows labor bodies to voice concerns regarding wages, social security, and employment generation. Recent discussions also included representatives from the banking, hospitality, IT, and startup sectors, focusing on growth and job creation.
Notably, meetings with IT leaders addressed global market challenges and advances in AI, while startups were invited for the first time to discuss ESOP taxation reform, highlighting the significance of their participation in the budgetary dialogue.
