New Delhi, Oct 16 In a distinguished ceremony held in New Delhi, the Government of Mongolia conferred the Order of the Polar Star, its highest state honour for civilians, upon Mr. M.P. Singh, the former Ambassador of India, who served in the Mongolian capital city, Ulaanbataar, for nearly 5 years
The prestigious award was presented in recognition of Ambassador Singh’s pivotal role in deepening bilateral relations contributing to the Strategic Partnership between the two nations established during the historic visit of Prime Minister Modi to Mongolia in 2015.
The award, was presented by President U. Khurelsukh, who was on State Visit to India 6 years after the last presidential visit to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two nations that were established in 1955.
The Order of the Polar Star is the highest civil decoration that could be awarded to Mongolian and foreign citizens for outstanding services in government, economic, cultural, and social fields, and for significant contributions to strengthening peace and cooperation with Mongolia.
Conferment of this honour underscores the success of India’s diplomatic outreach and the special place Mongolia holds for India, as its strategic partner.
