The Swachh Bharat Special Campaign 3.0 was carried out at NLC India Limited with a focus on cleanliness and paving the way to create “Wealth from Waste” in October 2023.Among the chief activities undertaken asstipulated by the Ministry were identification of scrap materials for disposal and planning for space management and utilising the same for beautification.
Aspart of Space Management,NLCIL has developed a unique parkby freeing a garbage dump area and converting it in to a green space. The park, named “PunaruthanCharkha Udyan” has been created in an area of 36,000 sq.ft.
NLCIL CMD Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli inaugurated this innovative park on 24.11.2023 in the presence of Shri K. Mohan Reddy, Director (P&P), Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines & Finance AC), Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR), Shri Appakannu Govindarajan, CVO, NLCIL and other senior officials of NLCIL.
The Park consists of models and sculptures ofCharkha and Gandhiji, made entirely from scrap materials sourced from Mines, symbolizing self-sufficiency and freedom. Also, many other models of Robots, Dinosaurs and other giant animals have been created as an attraction for children. Achildren play area along with walkway and water fountain are also part of the park which will attract visitors from far off places.
The “Punaruthan Charkha Udyan” exemplifies the spirit of the Special Campaign 3.0 by NLCIL to create green spaces by a positive utilization of weeded out scrap materials and contribute to the National drive for cleanliness, sustainability and environment protection.
