New Delhi, March 01: The National Science Day was celebrated at NLCIL in a grand manner to foster the scientific spirit among school students.
Every year, February 28th is being celebrated as “National Science Day” to commemorate the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ by Indian physicist Sir C.V.Raman. National Science Day 2023 is marked to raise awareness about the importance of science in people’s daily lives and to recognize all of the activities, projects and achievements in the field of technology that help humanity.
Samir Swarup, Director/HR, NLCIL, inaugurated a Science Exhibition in the presence of C Thiagaraju, ED/IR. Around 22 Neyveli schools participated in the Science Exhibition and 236 models were displayed. The dignitaries visited the Science displays along with the students. The Science Exhibition also continued on 1st March 2023 for public viewing.
As part of the National Science Day, a Special Lecture programme was inaugurated by N Sadish Babu, ED/HR organized on the topic “Space Science” for students of Neyveli Schools at the Learning & Development Centre. I Sudar, Associate Project Director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Trivandrum delivered the key note on the above subject and conducted an interactive session with around 250 students of Neyveli Schools who participated in the programme.
Later, a prize distribution function was held at L&DC Auditorium wherein Rajasekhara Reddy, ED/Mines was the Chief Guest for displaying the best Science Models. During the programme, a booklet “Tell Me about Science” was issued to the students. The programme culminated with the student’s cultural programme. Headmasters & Headmistresses, Principals, Teachers and around 700 students from various Neyveli Schools participated in the Science Day celebrations.
The entire functions and exhibition were co-ordinated by R Nagarajan, GM/Education, Sports & Culture, NLCIL and his team.
