New Delhi, May 23: The 67th Raising Day of NLC India Limited was celebrated on 20th May, 2023 at Neyveli in a grand manner.
While the NLCIL flag was hoisted at all Units including the Corporate Office and the new Arch Gate of Neyveli was inaugurated in the morning, later in the evening, a cultural and awards programme was held at Lignite Hall.
Awards were given to achievers and motivators in various categories like Service, Sports, Safety and Excellence in productivity, Efficiency, Overall performances (for Units) and Leadership. A booklet containing a new set of Core Values for NLCIL was also released during the function.
Speaking after giving away the awards,Prasanna Kumar, CMD, NLCIL,first lauded JambulingaMudaliar, describing him as the man who sowed the seeds of NLCIL Company by donating his lands to the company for carrying out Mining activities. Prasanna Kumar next expressed gratitude to all his predecessors in NLCIL and their families who were responsible for the evolution and growth of NLCIL. Prasanna Kumar also commended the past and present workforce, the trade unions and all stakeholders for their unwavering support to NLCIL in its development. He stated that it was because of their untiring efforts that NLCIL continued to perform exceedingly well. The results of the last Financial Year 2022-23, where NLCIL achieved an all-time high power production of 30 Billion Units and an all-time high production of Renewable Energy of 2,195 Million Units, stood testimony to the efforts of the entire NLCIL family, he said.
Prasanna Kumar also said that the need of the hour was innovation and diversification. It was with these objectives that NLCIL had embarked upon the innovative Overburden to Sand project and diversification into the Lignite to Methanol project. These measures would contribute immensely to the Nation’s economy, he said.
He also stressed upon the importance of actualising the newly upgraded core values of the company by putting these into action. The core values, formulated under the acronym “NLCIL COMMITS”, were meant to provide an impetus to a positive work culture among the workforce of the company. He also administered a pledge to all those present for an uncompromising and scrupulous commitment to the newly designed core values. The function ended with a grand cultural programme by the Athma Academy of Dance, Chennai, who gave a scintillating performance on a thematic dance ballet based on Colours of India, Ganesh Vanthana, Srijana (Creativity) and VandeMataram followed by a programme by the school students of Neyveli.
