4 out of 17 earned a medal in individual or team games
Northern Railway contingent won 5 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals
General Manager / NR congratulated all the players for their stupendous performance
New Delhi, Aug 10 Ashutosh Gangal , General Manager/ NR lauded the medal winning efforts of Athlete in the Commonwealth Games -2022 .Northern Railway sportspersons performed exceedingly well in the just concluded Commonwealth Games 2022. The Northern Railway contingent of 17 sportspersons went for the event. 14 out of 17 earned a medal in individual or team games. 5 of them won Gold medals, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze.
All the individual Gold medals were won in wrestling with Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat winning in their respective weight categories.(Two N.R Coaches associated with other 2 Gold Medalist). Divya Kakran brought bronze in wrestling in her weight category. Sagar Ahlawat, who was recruited a few months back, won silver in Boxing whereas Rohit Tokas won Bronze.
3 Northern Railway players also formed the core of the Women’s Cricket team, which was the runner up in the tournament. Northern Railway players also formed a part of Men’s hockey which won silver and Women’s hockey which won bronze in the tournament. General Manager, Northern Railway congratulated all the players for their stupendous performance in the games and wished them many more accolades in future.
