Kanti, May 26: NTPC Kanti on Monday launched the “Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2026” under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, reaffirming its commitment to community development and girls’ education.

The month-long residential initiative, inaugurated by NTPC Kanti Head of Project Sanjib Kumar Suar under the theme “Empowered Girls, Empowered Kanti,” will run from May 26 to June 20, 2026.
The programme has enrolled 50 girl students from villages across Kanti Block, representing nine schools, with a focus on education, personality development, confidence building and holistic learning.

During the four-week residential workshop, participants will receive free academic coaching in Mathematics, English, Hindi and Science, along with complimentary accommodation, nutritious meals and learning materials.
The initiative also includes extracurricular and skill-based activities such as yoga, dance, music, painting, sports and cultural programmes, alongside computer training to strengthen digital literacy.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Sanjib Kumar Suar said NTPC Kanti remains committed to the upliftment of neighbouring communities and that GEM seeks to equip girls with education, confidence and essential life skills.
He assured parents and schools that NTPC would ensure the safety, learning and well-being of all participants during the programme.
Additional General Manager (Human Resources) Maheshkumar Suthar said the initiative is expected to create broader social impact by fostering confidence, awareness and self-belief among participants.
Senior officials, including Deputy General Manager (Human Resources) Sanjeet Kumar, attended the event, with NTPC Kanti reiterating its commitment to social development through education-focused CSR initiatives.
