NLC provides Science Museum for School Children at Neyveli – CMD, NLC

To commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930, Neyveli Chapter of Tamilnadu Science Forum celebrated the National Science Day on 27-03-2015 at Lignite Hall, Neyveli.

B. Surender Mohan, CMD, NLC participated as the chief guest the Occasion. While addressing to the School Children he insisted that School Children has to play keyrole to defy the existing Pollution Problem ,which is the most threatening World Problem for the earth and it can be confronted only through Scientific approach. He informed that science is the only means and Sustainable Development is right track to tackle the existing   problems and students are the right agents to carry further by their innovative inventions and approach.

He appreciated, Neyveli Chapter of Tamilnadu Science Forum for their enthusiasm, activities in inculcating science &scientific approach among the school children. To mark the occasion, CMD sanctioned a Science Museum based on the request of GM/PR for the benefit of School children to display & preserve their innovative ideas & working models at a common platform.

S. Sridhar General Manager / Public Relations, the President of the occasion,in his speech he informed that Neyveli has seen turnout of 2 or 3 children for IIT’s before 2007, but because of keen interest and involvement of               Shri B. Surender Mohan now Neyveli got place on the Map of IIT and various prestigious institutions of Science and Technology. Since 2007, 230 students out of 297 from JHSS Block-5 got admissions in the IIT’s /NIT’s. For the academic year 2013-14, 38 out of 59 students i.e 2 out of 3 students got IIT admission, which s highest ratio among any school of Tamilanadu State . He thanked CMD NLC for taking keen interest & efforts in bringing Intensive Coaching for IIT aspirants and making Neyveli Town Ship in to IIT town ship. He appreciated the students for showing enormous interest and participating in the science exhibition and requested them to utilize the golden opportunities for higher studies available in Neyveli.

Shri K. Viswanathan, Jt.Sec TNSF, State Centre, the Guest of Honour in his address said that ancient India taught much Science & Technology to the world but present we are adopting from the rest of the world. He said world facing very serious concern with pollution, it may be very difficult to consume good air, water and Food after 50 years. He informed that scientific approach only solves these issues and science is the realm which brings equal society.

Smt. Swarna kumari Surender Mohan, the President of Neyveli Ladies Club and Sneha Opportunity Services Society graced the occasion and received the First copy of a book containing Science songs which released by the Shri B. Surender Mohan.

Earlier, Students from various schools enthusiastically presented their Exhibit Models on various science issues to the public and participants at Book Fair Grounds, which was dragged many foot falls. CMD and Guests distributed prizes and certificates to the winners of the competitions conducted on National Science Day.Earlier, school children staged various colourful cultural programmes which by enthralled the audience.
