New Delhi, April 14: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil) has dismissed allegations of systemic irregularities in LPG cylinder deliveries, asserting that India’s LPG distribution ecosystem remains robust, transparent, and technology-driven, with multiple safeguards ensuring delivery to genuine consumers.
Addressing recent media reports, the company clarified that instances of so-called “ghost deliveries” are isolated and not indicative of any systemic failure. It emphasised that any discrepancy—such as delivery being marked without actual receipt—is treated as a serious violation, triggering immediate investigation and disciplinary action.
IndianOil underscored the implementation of a strengthened Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system, featuring a secure 6-digit OTP-based verification to ensure authenticated deliveries. The system has been widely adopted across the network, with high compliance levels and strict monitoring of deviations.
The company also highlighted its end-to-end digital tracking infrastructure, which monitors LPG cylinders from bottling plants to final delivery, significantly reducing the risk of diversion or unauthorised handling. Additional safeguards include enhanced API security for delivery confirmation and proactive blacklisting of suspicious activities through its Security Operations Center (SOC).
On the enforcement front, IndianOil conducts regular audits, surprise inspections, and coordinated drives with local authorities to curb malpractices such as diversion for commercial use. These efforts have led to seizures of illegally diverted cylinders and penal action against offenders.
Advising consumers, the company urged users to share OTPs only upon actual receipt of cylinders, use authorised booking channels, and report grievances through official platforms to ensure transparency and prompt resolution.
IndianOil reiterated its commitment to maintaining a secure and efficient LPG distribution network, supported by continuous monitoring and stringent enforcement mechanisms to safeguard consumer interests.
