New Delhi, April 10: India and Sweden held the eighth round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in New Delhi, reaffirming their commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation across political, economic, and strategic domains.
The consultations were co-chaired by Sibi George, Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs, and Dag Hartelius, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Both sides reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and agreed to enhance engagement in areas including trade and investment, defence and security, innovation, sustainability, and people-to-people exchanges.
The discussions also highlighted the significance of the recently concluded India–EU Free Trade Agreement, which is expected to open new avenues for deeper trade, investment, and technology collaboration between India and Sweden.
Separately, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Hartelius to advance bilateral cooperation and reinforce the broader India–EU strategic partnership.
Earlier engagements have also reinforced ties, including the visit of Ebba Busch to India for the AI Impact Summit 2026, where discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in digital infrastructure, telecommunications, and innovation-driven sectors with Jyotiraditya Scindia.
India and Sweden share a robust partnership anchored in strong business and investment linkages, research and development collaboration, and a shared commitment to addressing global challenges such as sustainability, security, and technological advancement.
