New Delhi, April 9 Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar began a four-day visit to Bhutan, reinforcing bilateral cooperation in clean energy and sustainable development.
Union Minister met Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, with both sides reaffirming commitment to expanding energy and development partnerships. Talks with Energy Minister Lyonpo Gem Tshering focused on hydropower, renewables, and regional power trade.
India and Bhutan also signed two key agreements:
Tariff Protocol for the 1020 MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project
Methodology for Reactive Energy Accounting to improve grid stability and cross-border power exchange
The visit underscores efforts to strengthen institutional cooperation across transmission, financing, and capacity building, further boosting the long-standing India–Bhutan partnership.
