New Delhi, June 8, 2026: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has successfully maintained uninterrupted LPG supplies across the country despite significant disruptions in global LPG supply chains linked to the Strait of Hormuz.
Between May 1 and June 7, 2026, HPCL served more than 9.13 crore customers and delivered 432.82 lakh domestic LPG cylinders through its vast distribution network, ensuring households continued to receive cooking fuel without interruption.
The achievement comes at a time when approximately 54 percent of India’s LPG imports transit through the Strait of Hormuz, making the region critical for the country’s energy security.
Focus on PMUY Beneficiaries
A major priority for HPCL during the period was ensuring uninterrupted LPG access for economically weaker households covered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
The company:
- Served 2.80 crore PMUY customers
- Delivered 101.07 lakh Ujjwala refill cylinders
- Ensured subsidized cooking fuel remained available across urban and rural India
This sustained supply helped millions of households continue using clean cooking fuel despite global supply-side challenges.
How HPCL Managed the Supply Crisis
With international LPG supply chains facing pressure due to disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, HPCL strengthened coordination across:
- LPG sourcing operations
- Bottling plants
- Distribution centers
- Transportation networks
- Last-mile delivery systems
The company worked closely with distributors and delivery personnel to ensure uninterrupted supplies across the country.
