Govt enhanced divestment target to Rs 1,05,000 crore in FY 2019-20

New Delhi, July 05 (sarkaritel.com);   Government has enhanced the target of Rs1,05,000crore of disinvestment receipts for FY 2019-20 and it  will undertake strategic sale of PSUs and continue to do consolidation of PSUs in the non-financial space as well.

Government would reinitiate strategic disinvestment of (loss making) Air India, and offer more CPSEs for strategic participation by the private sector.”, Finance Minister NirmalaSitharaman told the parliament presenting her maiden budget for FY 2019-20.

The Finance Minister said that “strategic disinvestment of select CPSEs would continue to remain a priority of this Government. In view of current macro-economic parameters, She informed that the Government has been following the policy of disinvestment in non-financial public sector undertakings. It would  maintain Government stake does not go below 51%..In case the government wants to retain control in a PSU, it will not allow it to go below 51%.But this will be on a case to case basis. Government has also decided to modify present policy of  retaining 51% Government stake to retaining 51% stake inclusive of the stake of Government controlled institutions.
