Belarus eyes lifting ties with India to strategic partnership level

Minsk, Nov 28  Belarus hopes to lift ties with India to the level of strategic partnership, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said here on Friday.

Belarus traditionally considers India as the priority of its foreign policy, not only in Asia but also globally and sincerely strives to develop that cooperation further, Kobyakov was quoted as saying by Xinhua during his meeting with Indian ambassador Pankaj Saxena.

The prime minister said Belarus and India would get a 20 percent growth in mutual trade in 2015, to about $0.5 billion.

He also said Belarus hopes to increase shipments of potash fertilizers and engineering products to India and will welcome the arrival of Indian pharmaceutical companies in its market.

The two countries will also boost cooperation in education, science and technology areas, Kobyakov added.
