New Delhi, Feb 22: Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA), India’s premier institution devoted to the Performing arts of music, dance, theatre, folk and puppetry – is set to honour its luminaries through its esteemed Fellowships and Awards.
Droupadi Murmu, hon’ble President of India would confer the Sangeet Natak Fellowships (Akademi Ratna) to 09 eminent personalities and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puruskar) to 128 illustrious personalities who have distinguished themselves through their eminence and contribution to their respective fields, in a special investiture ceremony on Thursday, the 23 February, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi – 110001. The Ceremony would be attended by G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Culture and Tourism and development of North eastern region, Government of India; Arjun Ram Meghwal Hon’ble Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture, Government of India; Dr Sandhya Purecha Chairman, Sangeet Natak Akademi. These awards are for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
The Akademi’s Fellowship (Akademi Ratna) carries a purse money of Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lakhs only) and Akademi Awards (Akademi Puraskar) carry a purse money of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only). The award also carries a Tamrapatra and Angavastram.
The Fellows and Awardees not only represent the length and breadth of the Indian nation as a whole but also the diverse forms of creative expressions and our heritage. Some of the finest performances which enrich the oeuvre would be displayed by the awardees. The Awards ceremony is scheduled to be followed by a Festival of the Performing arts, lecture demonstrations and presentations showcasing the exhaustive body of work composed by the stellar artists over a life-long commitment to their respective genres.
The Presentations will take place at Meghdoot Theatre Complex, Rabindra Bhavan, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi – 110001 from 5:00 p.m. onwards from 23 February 2023 to 2 March 2023 and at Central Vista, New Delhi – 110001 on 4 and 5 March, 2023.
