New Delhi, July 25: NTPC Ltd., India’s largest integrated power utility, has reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter of FY2026-27, driven by capacity additions, operational efficiencies and higher profitability. The company posted a 12% increase in standalone Profit After Tax (PAT), reaffirming its leadership in India’s power sector.

On a standalone basis, NTPC reported total income of ₹44,512 crore during Q1 FY27, registering a 3% year-on-year growth. Profit After Tax rose to ₹5,342 crore, compared with ₹4,775 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26, supported by improved operational performance and additional generation capacity.

At the group level, consolidated PAT increased 13% to ₹6,896 crore, up from ₹6,108 crore a year earlier. The company’s overall earnings received a significant boost from its subsidiaries and joint ventures, with profit from group companies rising 62% to ₹1,832 crore from ₹1,131 crore in Q1 FY26.

NTPC continued to demonstrate industry-leading operational efficiency, with its coal-fired power stations recording a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 76.71% during the quarter. This performance was well above the national average Coal PLF of 70.32%, highlighting the company’s efficient power generation capabilities and operational excellence.

The strong quarterly performance reflects NTPC’s diversified growth strategy, continuous expansion of generation capacity and sustained focus on operational improvements. The company remains a key contributor to India’s energy security while advancing its long-term growth plans across conventional and clean energy segments.

With double-digit profit growth, higher operational efficiency and improved earnings from group companies, NTPC has reinforced its position as India’s leading power utility and remains well-positioned to support the country’s growing energy demand.
