The Central Government has appointed Anurag Jain as the new CEO of NITI Aayog for a period of two years after approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). The 1989-batch IAS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre has assumed charge with immediate effect.
According to the official order, Jain will continue as CEO during his approved extension in service for an overall period of two years or until further orders. The terms and conditions of his appointment remain unchanged from those of his predecessor.
With nearly four decades of administrative experience, Anurag Jain has held several important positions in both the Central Government and the Madhya Pradesh government. His work has covered infrastructure development, industrial policy, investment promotion and governance reforms.
As CEO of NITI Aayog, Jain will oversee the functioning of India’s premier public policy institution. He will play a key role in promoting evidence-based policymaking, strengthening cooperative and competitive federalism, and coordinating reforms with states and central ministries.
His appointment comes as NITI Aayog continues to shape policies aimed at accelerating economic growth, improving governance, encouraging innovation and supporting the government’s Viksit Bharat vision. The institution is also focusing on enhancing employability, entrepreneurship and industry-relevant skilling through its policy initiatives.
