HPCL Conducts 3,651 Fuel Quality Inspections Across India; No Irregularities Found in Ethanol-Blended Petrol

New Delhi, July 14: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has intensified its nationwide fuel quality surveillance programme, conducting 3,651 inspections across its retail outlet network to ensure the quality and compliance of ethanol-blended petrol. The comprehensive monitoring exercise reinforces HPCL’s commitment to supplying safe, reliable and high-quality fuels to customers across India.

Between July 7 and July 13, 2026, HPCL field officers carried out 2,173 surprise inspections at retail outlets to verify ethanol blending standards and ensure adherence to prescribed quality specifications. The inspections formed part of the company’s proactive efforts to strengthen fuel quality monitoring across its expanding retail network.

In addition to the surprise checks, 1,385 regular field inspections were conducted between July 3 and July 13, 2026, under HPCL’s routine quality assurance programme. These inspections are designed to continuously monitor fuel quality, maintain operational standards and ensure compliance with regulatory norms at retail outlets nationwide.

To further strengthen the surveillance mechanism, HPCL’s Quality Assurance (Anti-Adulteration) Cell carried out 93 additional surprise inspections, while 49 fuel samples were analysed using the Corporation’s mobile laboratory facilities. The specialised testing provides on-the-spot verification of fuel quality and supports rapid detection of any irregularities.

The inspection programme found no cases of fuel adulteration, contamination, critical irregularities or quality compliance lapses during the reporting period. The results reaffirm the effectiveness of HPCL’s robust quality assurance framework and its commitment to maintaining high standards across its retail operations.
