ChatGPT users across the world experienced a temporary disruption on Tuesday after OpenAI reported technical issues affecting several enterprise services, including Codex, workspace analytics, conversation search, Custom GPT search, user invites and compliance log downloads within FedRAMP workspaces.
According to Downdetector, reports of service interruptions surged between 1 pm and 2 pm, with around 75 per cent of complaints linked to ChatGPT. Additional reports involved DALL-E and the ChatGPT mobile application, indicating that the outage affected multiple OpenAI services.
OpenAI acknowledged the disruption and confirmed that FedRAMP workspaces were the primary areas impacted. The company said users could face problems accessing Codex, workspace analytics, conversation search, Custom GPT search, ChatGPT user invites and the Compliance Logs Platform download endpoint.
In a later update, OpenAI announced that core ChatGPT functionality had been restored, allowing most users to resume normal operations. However, the company admitted that some FedRAMP-specific features continued to experience technical issues, and engineers were actively working on a complete fix.
The incident comes at a time when AI-powered productivity tools have become essential for developers, businesses and government organisations. Even short service interruptions can affect software development, collaboration and enterprise workflows, highlighting the growing reliance on cloud-based artificial intelligence platforms.
Conclusion
Although core ChatGPT services are back online, OpenAI continues to resolve the remaining FedRAMP workspace issues, with further updates expected once all affected features are fully restored.
