New Delhi, June 02: NTPC Kanti has appointed Pankaj Kumar Gupta as its new Head of Project. Gupta, who currently serves as Chief General Manager, brings more than 34 years of experience in the power sector and extensive expertise across engineering, project management and energy transition initiatives.
An NTPC veteran, Gupta joined the company in 1991 as an Executive Trainee and has since held several key leadership roles across the organisation. Over the course of his career, he has contributed significantly to project engineering, mechanical systems, environmental management, strategic planning and clean energy initiatives.
He has served at various NTPC locations and divisions, including NTPC Kahalgaon, the Corporate Centre, the Energy Transition & Policy Group and, most recently, NTPC Meja, where he was associated with several critical assignments.
Gupta holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Lucknow University and an M.Tech in Applied Mechanics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. He has also participated in multiple national and international programmes focused on leadership development, sustainability, project management and emerging energy technologies.
NTPC Kanti, with an installed capacity of 390 MW, is among Bihar’s key power generation facilities and plays an important role in meeting the region’s growing electricity demand. The station has maintained strong performance in operational efficiency, safety standards, environmental management and stakeholder engagement.
The power station is also actively involved in community development through initiatives in education, healthcare and social welfare, including the flagship Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM). It continues to promote environmental sustainability through plantation drives, water conservation programmes and other green initiatives.
Commenting on his new role, Gupta said he aims to further strengthen operational excellence, safety standards and community engagement while advancing sustainability initiatives at the station.
He expressed confidence that with the support of Team Kanti, the station will continue to set higher benchmarks in performance, sustainability and social responsibility.
