New Delhi, May 26: The Centre on Monday said LPG supplies remained stable across the country, with around 1.72 crore cylinders delivered during the last four days against bookings of nearly 1.66 crore, underscoring efforts to maintain uninterrupted household fuel availability amid geopolitical challenges.
The update was shared during a media briefing at the National Media Centre, where officials from the Ministries of Petroleum and Natural Gas and External Affairs reviewed fuel availability and supply management measures.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said domestic LPG distribution continues to face logistical pressures due to prevailing geopolitical tensions, but household consumers remain the top priority.
Officials confirmed that no dry-outs have been reported at LPG distributorships across the country so far.
Digital adoption within the LPG distribution network also strengthened, with online bookings accounting for nearly 99 per cent of total industry-wide bookings on Sunday. Delivery Authentication Code (DAC)-based deliveries rose to around 95 per cent, helping improve transparency and curb cylinder diversion.
Under the DAC system, consumers receive a verification code on their registered mobile numbers before delivery authentication.
On the commercial LPG front, allocations have been increased to nearly 70 per cent of pre-crisis levels, including a 10 per cent reform-linked allocation.
During the last four days, around 24,557 metric tonnes of commercial LPG were sold nationwide, while PSU oil marketing companies recorded Auto LPG sales of nearly 942 metric tonnes. Since May 1, 2026, total commercial LPG sales have reached 1,56,898 metric tonnes.
The government also continued promoting smaller 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders to improve access to clean cooking fuel. Around 1.96 lakh 5 kg FTL cylinders were sold during the past four days.
Since April 3, PSU oil marketing companies have organised nearly 15,400 awareness camps across states and Union Territories, supporting sales of more than 2.45 lakh 5 kg FTL cylinders. On Sunday alone, 82 awareness camps facilitated the sale of approximately 1,487 cylinders.
The government said ongoing supply monitoring, digital systems and consumer outreach initiatives remain central to ensuring reliable LPG availability nationwide.
