New Delhi, May 24 US Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in New Delhi on Sunday, with discussions centred on defence, security and strategic technology cooperation, including the TRUST initiative.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the two sides reaffirmed the high priority attached to the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and exchanged views on key regional and global developments.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with Rubio and reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral ties, covering trade, energy, defence, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, nuclear cooperation, and counter-terrorism efforts. Jaishankar also said he looked forward to joining counterparts from the US, Australia and Japan for the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Tuesday.
Rubio’s visit follows his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, where both leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East, energy security, critical supply chains and emerging technologies. Rubio highlighted the potential of US energy supplies to diversify India’s energy basket and invited PM Modi to visit the White House.
Prime Minister Modi said India and the United States would continue to work closely for global peace and prosperity, while reiterating India’s support for dialogue and diplomacy in resolving regional conflicts
