New Delhi, May 23: Retail prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) in the national capital were raised by Rs 1 per kg on Saturday, marking the third upward revision within 10 days amid broader energy market pressures.
According to Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the revised CNG price in New Delhi now stands at Rs 81.09 per kg, up from Rs 80.09 per kg.
Neighbouring NCR cities also witnessed higher prices, with CNG rates in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad increasing to Rs 89.70 per kg, while Gurugram prices rose to Rs 86.12 per kg.
The latest revision follows a Rs 2 per kg increase announced on May 15 and an additional Re 1 per kg hike on May 17.
The continued rise in CNG prices is expected to increase operating costs for transport operators and add to commuting and household expenses for users of gas-powered vehicles.
Meanwhile, state-owned oil marketing companies also revised petrol and diesel prices upward on Saturday, marking the third increase in around 10 days.
Petrol prices were raised by Rs 0.87 per litre and diesel by Rs 0.91 per litre amid sustained pressure from elevated global crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
In Delhi, petrol prices increased to Rs 99.51 per litre from Rs 98.64 per litre, while diesel prices rose to Rs 92.49 per litre from Rs 91.58 per litre.
The price revision forms part of a wider nationwide adjustment affecting major cities across the country.
In Kolkata, petrol prices climbed to Rs 110.64 per litre and diesel to Rs 97.02 per litre following the latest revision.
Mumbai also recorded higher fuel prices, with petrol rising to Rs 108.49 per litre and diesel to Rs 95.02 per litre.
Responding to criticism over rising fuel prices, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju had earlier stated that India has managed to contain petrol and diesel price increases despite the sharp rise in international crude oil prices.
