Govt Launches Swasth Bharat Portal for Unified Digital Health Ecosystem

New Delhi, May 06: India has launched the Swasth Bharat Portal, a unified digital platform aimed at integrating multiple national health programme applications into a single interoperable system, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Designed as an API-based aggregator, the portal seeks to eliminate fragmented datasets, reduce duplication of efforts, and improve resource utilisation across the public healthcare ecosystem. It enables seamless interoperability, creating a unified digital layer across programmes.

The platform will significantly ease the workload of frontline health workers—including ASHAs, ANMs, CHOs, and medical officers—by replacing multiple applications with a single interface, reducing repetitive data entry and administrative burden.

Aligned with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, the portal supports integration with Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts, enabling secure and seamless exchange of patient health records. It is also designed to integrate with national registries such as the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) and Health Facility Registry (HFR).

The government estimates that the consolidation could deliver infrastructure savings of 20–30 per cent, reduce repetitive data entry by up to 40 per cent, and minimise duplication of human resources.

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda unveiled the platform during the 10th National Summit on Innovation and Inclusivity, highlighting it as a major step towards efficient, data-driven governance in India’s healthcare system.

Built on a federated architecture, the Swasth Bharat Portal is expected to enhance decision-making speed and mark a significant advancement in India’s digital health transformation.
