Lucknow, April 8: Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced a major recruitment drive to induct one lakh personnel into the Uttar Pradesh Police this year, as part of a broader effort to modernise and strengthen law enforcement in the state.
The announcement was made at a ceremony held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, where appointment letters were distributed to 936 Head Operators in the police telecommunication department.
Officials said the large-scale hiring initiative is aimed at enhancing policing capacity while also generating employment opportunities for youth. The formal notification for the recruitment drive is awaited.
The state has already accelerated hiring across departments, with examinations conducted for 41,000 posts in the Home Guards in recent days. Recruitment for Civil Police and other units is also progressing.
Adityanath emphasised that recruitment processes are now being conducted transparently and on merit, without external influence. He noted that over 2.2 lakh personnel have been inducted into the state police over the past nine years, significantly strengthening the force.
Highlighting innovation in recruitment, the Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh is among the first states to induct over 500 skilled athletes into the police, contributing to strong performance in national and international sporting events.
The initiative is part of a wider push to upgrade infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and build a more capable and responsive police force in the state.
