New Delhi/Doha, April 10: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri held key talks with Qatar’s top leadership during his two-day visit to Doha, focusing on energy security and bilateral cooperation amid ongoing regional tensions.
Puri met Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President & CEO of QatarEnergy, to review strategic ties spanning trade, investment, and energy cooperation.
The minister conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Qatar’s Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. He also reiterated India’s appreciation for Qatar’s support to the Indian community.
Both sides discussed the importance of restoring regional stability through dialogue and diplomacy, recalling recent conversations between Modi and the Amir following the outbreak of conflict in March.
Qatar reaffirmed its position as a reliable energy partner for India, with both nations agreeing to further strengthen cooperation in the sector.
The leaders also welcomed the recently announced two-week ceasefire and stressed the need to ensure uninterrupted global energy supplies, freedom of navigation, and smooth functioning of supply chains.
