New Delhi, Feb 24: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Narendra Modi, has approved three multi-tracking railway projects worth ₹9,072 crore to enhance capacity and logistics efficiency across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
The projects — Gondia–Jabalpur doubling, Punarakh–Kiul 3rd & 4th line, and Gamharia–Chandil 3rd & 4th line — will add around 307 km to the Indian Railways network and are slated for completion by 2030-31.
The capacity augmentation is expected to facilitate additional freight traffic of 52 MTPA, improve connectivity to over 5,400 villages, reduce congestion, lower logistics costs, and support sustainable transport through reduced fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
