New Delhi, Feb 09 The government will roll out new base-year series for key macroeconomic indicators — CPI on February 12, GDP on February 27, and IIP on May 28 — following a comprehensive revision exercise, Parliament was informed.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has updated the base years to 2022-23 for GDP and IIP, and 2024 for CPI, incorporating methodological improvements, new data sources and revised weightages to enhance accuracy and global comparability.
The revision, guided by expert Technical Advisory Committees, aligns with IMF’s Special Data Dissemination Standards (SDDS) and aims to strengthen data quality, timeliness and transparency, providing a more robust statistical framework for policymaking.
