India’s Energy Sector Presents $100 Billion Investment Opportunity: PM Modi to CEOs

Narendra Modi to Hold Talks with CMs Today on West Asia Tensions

New Delhi, Jan 29 (IANS): India is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed global energy sector CEOs at the ‘India Energy Week’ (IEW) 2026.

He highlighted a substantial investment potential of approximately $100 billion in exploration and production due to favorable policy reforms. Additionally, Modi pointed out a $30 billion opportunity in Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG).

Direct industry feedback is crucial for refining policies and tackling sector challenges, he noted, which enhances India’s appeal as an investment hub. CEOs representing major global firms, including TotalEnergies and BP, expressed optimism about India’s growth, attributing it to policy stability and long-term demand forecasts.

Modi emphasized opportunities across the energy value chain, including gas, refining, and shipbuilding, and urged innovation and collaboration as India aims to be a reliable partner in the global energy landscape amid current uncertainties.
